A big thanks to Cllr Ian Davey – now Cabinet Member for Transport & Public Realm – for attending the Transport Group meeting on Monday. Ian gave a short presentation covering some of the highlights of the new administration approach to transport issues and an overview of the sucessful Sustainable Transport Fund bid for improvements along Lewes Road.
The full record of the meeting will be posted on the Transport Group page in due course. For now, here are some of the actions agreed:
Cycle Parking: Abby Hone (BHCC) will look at the options for on street cycle parking identified before the resident parking consultation and make them available for the LAT to consider. Cllr Follett will talk to the Hanover Community Association about a partnership approach to provision of new cycle parking.
Obtructions by parked cars: The council is looking at changing its enforcement guidelines to reduce the impact of obstructive pavement parking on Elm Grove and parking on double yellow lines on Lewes Road.
Public Transport: Concern was raised about the quality and frequency of bus services, and around the local bus facilities – a representative from B&H Bus Co. will be invited to the next meeting HCA had previously printed a sustainable travle map of the area. This will be revisited, and republished if possible.
Full minutes will be complete next week. The next meeting of this group will be on September 26th. If you would like to join the Transport Group list please let us know. ( see contacts page for details)
