The Council, the Police and other service providers are increasingly using social media channels (Facebook,Twitter, blogs…) to share information and communicate with residents and the wider community. Using social media to find out what services are doing, to report things and to make suggestions for improvement is an increasingly valuable and effective tool for residents and community groups, but not all residents are aware of this potential or comfortable with using online facilities.
Next week Thursday we will be sharing the SpacePlace space at the Hanover Community Centre to put together the first Social Media Surgery for the Hanover area. A Social Media Surgery is an informal gathering, and is about helping residents get more from the web. If you would like to know more about using social media, setting up a blog… do come along. Equally, if you are an able and confident social media user and can help others get started, please come also – to work, we need ‘surgeons’ as well as ‘patients’
Special thanks to SpacePlace for letting us join them. They offer a regular weekly creative space for anyone with a project to devlop or complete which needs a bit more room, or perhaps a helping hand. SpacePlace also run a cafe – fabulous homemade cakes.
