Work on developing our Neighbourhood Action Plan continues apace. Since the summer this has been done by a working party – loosely becoming described as the Community Coalition and made up of residents in the area, as well as representatives from local groups, including the LAT, Friends of the Patch, Queens Park RA, The Hanover Community Association, Phoenix Residents Association, Hanover Action, Phoenix Gallery and others. For meeting notes and general info see HERE
The really important thing now is for this to open up to the wider community – get more people involved – and the first step is our Community Survey in Three Questions which volunteers are taking around to various local events, and the point of it is to get a steer from as many people as we can about the important local issues. We will use this survey to help identify broad themes which are important for the ward, and use these to base a more detailed survey and conversation/consultation events which will take place early next year.
The timeline we are working to is to have a plan written by May 2018. which will have support from the community, will have identified local issues, challenges and opportunities, and will include actions to change or improve things in partnership with the council, police and others.
The council are helping by providing some money to pay for printing costs, meeting rooms and other things, and staff from the council Communities Team are giving other support, but making a proper plan for our neigbourhood will take more than money – it also needs YOU to get involved – you, and your neighbours and our neighbours and all!
